Betty Jo (Benson) Lewis of McKinney, Texas was called home to rest on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 69. She was born on October 3, 1951 to the late Willie W. Benson and the late Bernice (Booker) Benson in St. Louis, Missouri. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was of Baptist faith.
Betty attended Buffalo State College in New York and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. While at Buffalo State College, she met the love of her life, Larry Lewis. Betty married Larry on September 3, 1983 in Erie County, New York. Two children were born from this union. Larry and Betty relocated to the Dallas Area in 1986 and continued to build a strong foundation together through faith. Larry was called home to rest on March 16, 2002.
Betty leaves to cherish precious memories her two children, Lawrence Lewis and wife, Marie of Windsor, Virginia; daughter, Ashley Lewis of McKinney, Texas; three grandchildren, Kelly Lewis, Lauren Lewis, Mari Lewis; four brothers, Willie Benson, Jr., Stanley Benson, Bobby Benson, and Tony Benson of Buffalo, New York.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Anne Benson of San Francisco, California and brother, Alfred Benson of Richmond, California,
Betty will also be dearly missed by a great number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A “come and go” visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Betty’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/betty-jo-lewis. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.
However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Betty and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.
