Mark Odis Hanks passed away September 16, 2023 in Plano, Texas at the age of 67. He was born March 18, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Odis John Hanks and Gladys Compton. Mark married Vicky Hanks on July 31, 1976 in Dallas, Texas.
He graduated from DeVry University and retired from Autocraft Industries after 35 years and then worked at Cabela’s for 8 years. Mark was a leader of the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years and served for many years as a Scout Master. He loved fishing, camping, being outdoors, yard work, and cross stitch. One of his favorite hobbies was Model Railroading.
Mark is survived by his wife, Vicky Hanks; son, Chris Hanks and wife, Kristi of Anna, Texas; son, Stephen Hanks and wife, Liz of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Kaycie Lamb, Cohen Hanks, Kendyl Lamb, Madelyn Hanks, Merrik Hanks, and Luke Hanks; sister, Bonnie Viada and husband, Raymond; several nieces and nephews. In addition to family, he is survived by his close friends, Howard and Donna Hansen and Larry and Becki Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Violet Townley and brother, John Hanks.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Prestonwood Baptist Church - Plano Campus 6801 West Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75093. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas for a committal service. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson- Morrow Funeral Home 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Family request that casual attire be worn to the service.
