On January 29, 2023, Janet Susan Voigt Halyburton passed away in McKinney, Texas at the age of 73. Susan was born in Dallas, Texas on June 8, 1949 to Clayton Edward and Ella Zoe McNabb.

On February 18, 2017, Susan was wed to Chrys D. Halyburton. Susan shares three children from a previous marriage to James M. Voigt. Susan grew up in Dallas, Texas with her sisters Pamela Kliewer and Marilyn Gilbert during her childhood years, then raised her children, Kevin E. Voigt, Kyle M. Voigt, and Carianne Rapp in Garland, Texas. Most recently, Susan resided with her husband Chrys in McKinney, Texas.

Susan valued time spent with family and friends. Whether it was hosting large family meals at her home during the holidays or going to the musicals, out to eat with her Birthday group, playing bunco in her community group, or chatting with her Walkie Talkies group, she enjoyed it all! Susan also loved traveling. She enjoyed seeing the sights at National Parks, just as much as relaxing on a beach. Susan was an active member in her Bible Study Group and Book Club Group, where she had many lifelong friends. Susan was part of the NOW Class at East Dallas Christian Church for many, many years. Recently, Susan found a new interest and learned how to play Mah Jongg.

Susan worked for many years in sales at Southern Images Photography, the Dallas Market, and James Avery. Susan spent time helping the community too. She was active in PTA in Garland ISD when her children were young. She was also a founding member of the Garland Service League that later turned into the Junior League of Garland. She was very proud of helping start The New Beginnings Center in Garland. Later, she was active in the Junior League of Dallas.

Susan is remembered and survived by her husband Chrys D. Halyburton, his daughter Courtney and husband Todd, her son Kevin E. Voigt, his wife Alicia Voigt, and their children Holland & Preston, son Kyle M. Voigt, his wife Amie Voigt, and their children Isabella & Olivia, her daughter Carianne Rapp, her husband Rodney, and their children Clayton & Lily. Her sister Pamela Kliewer and sons John and Robert, sister Marilyn Gilbert, her husband Glenn and their daughter Jena.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Clayton E. McNabb and Zoe McNabb.  

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023 at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 North Peak Street, Dallas, Texas 75246.  Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. later that day at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
