IN LOVING MEMORY

Thomas “Tom” Loren Loposer, Jr.

Oct 03 1951 - Dec 28 2023

Thomas “Tom” Loren Loposer, Jr. of Allen, Texas, passed away on December 28, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on October 3, 1951, to Thomas Loren Loposer and Katherine Elizabeth (Wilson) Loposer in Waverly, Iowa.

Tom spent his earliest years in Dallas, before moving to Greenville, Texas. It was there where Tom came of age and attended high school, where he met many lifelong friends as well as his future wife, Kay Odeneal. Tom and Kay married in August 1970 and then moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where they began their adult lives together. They moved back to their hometown of Greenville where they spent many good years enjoying family and friends as they raised their three sons Eric, Josh, and Scott. They eventually moved to Allen where Josh and Scott graduated from high school. Tom and Kay were married 50 years.

Tom was a talented homebuilder. He founded Loposer Homes in 1976 and helped many families design and build the custom homes of their dreams throughout the late 70s, 80s and 90s. Many neighborhoods in and around Greenville, Rockwall, and Dallas showcase Tom’s beautiful homes.

An avid reader, Tom loved novels about the Wild West, detectives, and mysteries. His favorite, of course, was Lonesome Dove. Beyond novels, Tom was also dedicated to keeping up with current events and politics. His intellectual curiosity was a hallmark of his personality, a passion he loved to share with others.

Tom found great satisfaction in the great outdoors. Whether hunting, golfing or snow skiing, Tom was not one to miss a chance to admire the beautiful scenery of the golf course, Texas Hill Country, or the Colorado Rockies. It was through these activities that he formed many friendships throughout his life and fostered a deeper relationship with his sons.

Tom also loved animals - horses, birds, deer and especially bird dogs. His love of bird dogs spanned his adult life, from his first Pointer named Willie to his constant companion later in life, Molly, his beloved English Setter.

In his later years, his favorite thing was spending time reconnecting with loved ones at the family ranch in San Saba, Texas. Tom reveled in a good project, whether it was building a deck, mowing the pasture, or clearing brush. Perhaps his favorite activity was chatting on the porch or around a campfire, his favorite music playing softly in the background.

He is survived by his sons, Eric Loposer and wife, Maria of Plano, Texas, Josh Loposer of Austin, Texas, and Scott Loposer and wife, Peyton of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, D.J. Tesch, Aden Tesch, Addy Loposer, Katy Loposer, Easton Loposer, Juni Loposer and Chase Loposer; brother, Mark Loposer; former wife, Kay (Odeneal) Loposer; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Timothy Wilson Loposer. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Cottonwood Creek Church at 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway in Allen, Texas 75013.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the Samaritan Purse, Compassion International, or to your charity of choice.
